This week I’m returning to a record that I haven’t listened to in quite some time and had almost forgotten about. I purchased this 45 the week it came out back in 2006 (wow, seems such a long time ago now!!). Around this time there were quite a few “nu-funk” bands releasing killer 45s like The Sound Stylistics, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, The Grits and Lefties Soul Connection to name a few.
The Soul Snatchers (like the aforementioned Lefties Soul Connection) were a Dutch funk/afrobeat outfit who cut 3 singles and disappeared into obscurity. This particular record has a very heavy blaxploitation feel to it with breaks and heavy drums setting the tempo. If you want to drop a killer tune to lift the dancefloor at any funk party, this one definitely does the trick!
