As it was the annual back-slapping awards for the multi-millionaire Hollywood actors last night, we’ve decided this week to bring you something which featured on a film score.
The film in question is “They Call Me Mister Tibbs” starring the fantastic Sidney Poitier which was the follow-up to the hugely successful (and critically acclaimed) 1967 film, In The Heat Of The Night.
The song we feature here is the film’s title track and was written and produced by yet another legend in Quincy Jones. This particular version (as you can probably tell from the picture sleeve) is the very rare Japanese pressing.
Like many of the other musical heavyweights we’ve featured before here on the blog, I could probably write a book on the life & times of Mr Jones as he has packed so much into his career (but there have already been plenty and no doubt do him justice a lot better than I could!)
