I mentioned a few weeks ago about my substantial collection of funky hammond tracks, well I thought it’s about time I delved into it to bring you yet another delectable piece of ear candy.
Charlie Earland was born in Philadelphia and started out at the age of 17 playing tenor for yet another giant of the hammond organ, Jimmy McGriff. Charlie later became a bandleader and was also a member of Lou Donaldson’s band.
This selection (released in ’69) was the only 45 made by Charles Earland and one of the few releases on the quite rare Eldorado label. The flip is a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “My Cherie Amour” but it’s not quite as good as this in my humble opinion (though it’s still good all the same)
