Today’s selection is a track that I haven’t played in a long time that I came across recently while looking through some old records.
Maskman & The Agents were a vocal group featuring Harmon Bethea (Maskman) and his 3 backing singers (his agents) who were based in Wasington DC.
This song (released in ’68) talks about Maskman’s problems with his slightly psychotic wife with quite funny lyrics. Parts of the song are spoken with a call and response style, almost reminiscent of early rapping. This is just a fun time record without any hard edges that would go down well at a house party.
