Today’s selection is a track that I first heard around 20 years ago as it featured on a CD “mix” given to me by a good friend of mine. It did take me a few years to get round to buying one and I was chuffed when it finally landed on my doorstep.
This particular record was released on the Down East label but it also had a UK release on the Buffalo label with the artist name changed to “Justine”. Weird. There’s little known about who the actual artist is/was. But, after some research the writing credits belong to Ben Boyce a singer/writer from Brooklyn. I have to admit that I haven’t heard any of his other material.
This is a great funky soul 45 with bongos, some great percussion and a very stop-start ebb and flow. I hope you enjoy this one and the rest of your weekend too!
