The Lewis Explosion – Start To Feelin' Good Again

The Lewis Explosion - Start To Feelin' Good Again

I have a distinct feeling that today’s update will probably be one of the shortest I have ever (or will ever) bring you. When you dive head first into the deep waters of obscurity you inevitably surface to find that there isn’t a lot to talk about. As you’ve all seen over the years I do my best to try to impart my knowledge of the particular record I bring you so that the blog is a little more interesting than me just posting a song that I like without helping you, the reader to learn about the song/artist in question.

Therein lies the problem with today’s track – the lack of info out there about the band. What I do know is that they are from Wisconsin and this particular selection was cut in 1973, beyond that, well I’m lost. Even a google search finds little information about the group but because this song is soooo good, I didn’t want to ignore it altogether just because I couldn’t talk about the band.

So what does it sound like? Well, it’s probably what I would describe as hippy funk. It’s not quite out there enough to be psychedelic funk but it does have that happy, summery feel to it – think of The Fifth Dimension and you’re sort of getting the vibe I’m talking about. There’s some fantastic bongo action going on here and it moves along nicely with very good dancefloor appeal. I hope you dig it as much as I do!
