It’s been quite a while since we last delved into our collection and treated you to a piece of “nu-funk” so it’s about time we put that right with this week’s selection.
Some of you may never have heard of today’s artist but I’m sure plenty of you will recognise the song as it is a cover of the track from The Prodigy’s “Music For The Jilted Generation” album released back in 1994. The original version was based around a riff of a song called “Very Ape” that appeared on Nirvana’s album In Utero.
This version has quite a fast tempo, with a great horn section and added scratching thrown into the mix, the result is an uplifting dancefloor monster that always gets a good reception when I drop it during one of my dj sets. The track proved quite popular amongst funk collectors when it was released a few years back and featured extensively on The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show (in fact the band were invited into the studio to perform live on air)
