We’re bringing you something of a first this week here on Gazfunk – as this selection is in fact the first ever release on the short-lived “Funkedelic” record label, run by none other than the legend himself – Mr George Clinton.
Like many other of my previous selections, there’s not a terrible lot to say about this track. It was released in 68, just at the ending of The Parliaments career and just at the beginning of the birth of Funkedelic and sound-wise, was an amalgamation of both. There is quite a slow groove about it, but it has a rather strange sound that you wouldn’t expect to hear from the opening lyrics.
For fans of Funkedelic, this is quite unlike the sound that they become noted for, however this particular groove was returned to on the final track of their Cosmic Slop LP – “I Can’t Stand The Strain” released in ’73
Hope you dig the groove as much as I do..
